Jamica1985-88 I was employed by Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC), and the United Nations as Ceramic Consultant in Jamaica. Raw materials technician, production management, small scale mining of ceramic raw materials, skills training and consultancy with private firms and geological survey.
50 people were employed in the Government run pottery factory. There were a number of studio artists in Jamaica along with other small production
companies
Thrown casseroles made on an old "Leach wheel"at Things Jamaican The skyline Looking over Kingston towards the Blue Mountain. Hand building figerines and glazing by hand. Imitation Delft type ware using white glaze and blue pigment decoration. The pattern is based on items found around Kingston probably originally from Spain. Cecil Baugh throwing. He worked with Bernard Leach in the UK Norma Harrack one of the well known studio artistsin 1980's. |
