1998-02 I worked as Small scale mining advisor, Wau, Papua New Guinea funded by AusAID.

Education program for small scale miners OccupationalHealth and Safety, technology, small business practice. Production of videos, pamphlets and appropriate technology for a travelling education program eventually moving all over PNG where ever small scale mining takes place. Survey of extent of small scale mining and review of various acts relating to this. Training three counterparts to take over the position including communication with village level people and public speaking at conferences and public occasions.

Devising of appropriate technologies (solar driven TV and video unit initially and evolved into CD and LCD screen), to travel around PNG for the education program applicable to small scale mining.

Planning to set up vocational training program including costing, curriculum
guidelines, buildings etc.

Devising 5-10 year plan for the development of small scale mining in PNG. Management training for Assistant Director Small Scale Mining.

Liaison with the private sector to obtain support for the program both monetary and in kind.
Liason with other donor bodies, ADB, World Bank, JSDF, CASM, other AusAID
bodies including the Incentive Fund.
PNG Advisory Support Facility (managed by Sagric International)

I returned to PNG for Asian Development Bank to assist with SSM development and micro finance project initiation in 2003
